An accident in Bridgeport left several people injured. Police said that some of the victims were children, and they transported several people to area hospitals.

The accident happened at an intersection in the evening hours. They said that one of the drivers was attempting to turn left. Police said that the driver did not yield the right of way and thus turned in front of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The other vehicle did not have time to stop, so there was a collision.

While the police did not issue a citation, they did say they give an oral warning to the driver who turned into the other vehicle’s path and indicated that this driver was at fault for the accident. Police made no mention of drugs or alcohol being a factor in this crash.

Among the 5 people injured, police said that 3 people, including a child, in the car which turned improperly had to be taken to the hospital. Two others, an adult and a child, in the vehicle coming from the opposite direction also had to be taken to the hospital

Authorities said that both vehicle sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene of the accident.

Accidents happen at intersections for a number of reasons. For instance, drivers commonly are distracted or just fail to look carefully for oncoming traffic when they are passing through or trying to turn in an intersection.

Unfortunately, other drivers are just in the bad habit of trying to beat a traffic signal so that they don’t have to wait on a red light. In other cases, motorists are just in a hurry and race through an intersection too quickly.

As this case illustrates, car accidents at intersections can cause significant injuries. Victims of these accidents may be entitled to compensation.
